Transforming the Online Retail Experience For a Critical Geography

The Problem

A Fortune 200 consumer goods manufacturer and global retailer wanted to increase its ability to deliver a better e-commerce selection, pricing, delivery, and overall service to the customers in its Mexico market. To make this happen, they needed to define, develop, and implement changes to their order management, product catalog, online store, and third-party pricing and fulfillment capabilities. These changes required the coordination of more than 40 different teams, across the client and their platform partners—a massive undertaking requiring deep experience in stakeholder engagement and management, technical project management, and the leveraging of Agile principles to coordinate integrated work across multiple teams and organizations. The client chose Propeller for its expertise and successful track record delivering similar projects for this client.

The Approach

The Propeller team set about dividing the work into two primary areas:

  • Establishing the project governance and stakeholder engagement structure
  • Creating a work definition and tracking strategy

For each track of work, we leveraged the tools available, including Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet.  Within these tools, we were able to create high-level structures and views of the work within each track and provide drilldowns into the underlying details behind the high-level views.
